My name is Lauren and I have been a member at WHAC since November 2017. After getting married in June, I started eating poorly and skipping workouts, and before I knew it, I was the heaviest I had ever been. Newlywed weight gain is a real thing! I had no energy and was frustrated that I had let myself go. I knew I needed to make a change so I decided to schedule a tour at West Hills. Up until that point, I had only been a “cardio bunny” and weight training was foreign to me, so I was scared to branch out from my familiar spin classes to incorporate lifting. At the time, I had absolutely no idea what to do in the weight room. I was excited to hear that WHAC offered small group training because I knew I needed a trainer to guide me, and I liked the idea of working out with other like-minded people.
With that in mind, I signed up for X-Fit with Dre twice a week and decided to incorporate personal training with Lesa once a week along with my usual few days of cardio. Since November, I am proud to say I have lost 20 lbs. and completely changed my body. I am stronger now than I have ever been and I have more knowledge of the weight room than I ever did before. The trainers at WHAC have been so helpful in teaching me how to weight train and encouraging me to push myself beyond what I thought I could do. I also love seeing my name on the MyZone screen to keep myself motivated during workouts. Having previously used a MyZone belt at my college gym, I knew that it was a great fitness tool and I was excited to see them being debuted at WHAC. I enjoy being able to track my calories burned and see my heart rate in real time. It is so helpful in figuring out if I need to push myself harder or maybe dial it down a notch.
My experience at WHAC has been overwhelmingly positive, and if any of you are like me and feel lost in the weight room, I highly recommend checking out their personal training or small group classes.
